Sergio is a researcher associated with RMIT’s Centre for Urban Research. He is investigating the social and environmental dimensions of the transition to sustainable energy futures and works in identifying opportunities and creating partnerships for advancing RMIT’s urban research agenda in Europe.

He holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Central European University in Budapest. His research looks at issues of social justice, vulnerability and resilience in the domain of residential energy use and the built environment. A recognised scholar in the field of energy poverty and the multiple benefits of climate investments, Sergio is also interested in mobility as an urban energy service of paramount importance for a sustainable and fair energy transition.

Sergio has a growing publication record in energy, environment and geography journals. He has also led and contributed to a number of high-impact initiatives such as two pioneering assessment reports of energy poverty in Hungary and Spain and the Global Energy Assessment.
