The RMIT Student Union (RUSU) aims to advance the education, welfare, social and cultural lives of all RMIT students. Each year students elect the representatives who run RUSU - RUSU is run for students by students.

Clubs and societies

Choose from more than 85 clubs and societies with academic, cultural, spiritual, activist and social themes. If you don't find the club for you, RUSU can help you to start your own. Sporting clubs and arts collectives are offered through RMIT Link.

Student media

  • Catalyst is the RUSU magazine, distributed free every month. You are welcome to contribute articles, photographs, illustrations, reviews, letters to the editor or anything that may be of interest to other RMIT students.
  • RMITV is Australia's leading community television production house and is funded by RUSU. Each month it produces several hours of television programming for community television networks across Australia. RMITV is run by students, for students and endeavours to provide RMIT students with invaluable professional development opportunities in the television and entertainment industries.

Compass Drop-in Centre

RUSU's Compass Drop-in Centre provides free information and referrals for RMIT students who are experiencing life difficulties and want to know where to go to resolve them. Compass can point you in the right direction if you have issues relating to homelessness, Centrelink, renting, employment, domestic and family violence, mental health, harassment, and alcohol and other substance abuse.
