PhD Scholarship in Atom-photon hybrid quantum processors
Following our recent success in demonstrating high-fidelity, chip-scale optical quantum information processing, this project will extend the current capability by adding on-chip single photon emission and detection.

$30,000/year for 3.5 years

Candidates will have a degree in physics, material science, micro-nano technology, electronic engineering or equivalent.
Prospective candidate are required to meet the program entry requirements for Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) at RMIT University.
How to apply
Prospective candidates will be required to submit an application for admission ‘Program Only” to the PhD Electrical and Electronic Engineering program (DR220) as per instructions available on the RMIT Research website.
The Research Topic to be entered on the application is “Atom-photon hybrid quantum processors”.

- Expression of interest (no more than one page)
Scholarship applications will only be successful if prospective candidates are provided with an offer for admission.
The preferred commencement date for the scholarship are:
- October 2018 (Scholarship #1)
- March 2019. (Scholarship #2)

Terms and conditions
This scholarship will be governed by RMIT University’s Research Scholarship Terms and Conditions.
The candidates will design, fabricate and measure on-chip hybrid atom-photon devices and integrated single photon detectors. They will learn a wide range of techniques from single atom positioning, device processing, and electronic and optical measurements at cryogenic temperature. The candidates will work as part of a dedicated team of researchers in this world-leading group.
