Emeritus Professor David Beanland AO Scholarship

If you are a high achieving engineering student and can demonstrate financial and/or educational disadvantage, this scholarship could provide financial assistance towards your study costs.

Value and duration

The scholarship provides $7000 per year for up to four years.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • be enrolled full-time in the standard semester 1 and 2 in a four year Bachelor of Engineering degree at RMIT
  • have at least one year of full-time study left to complete
  • be able to demonstrate academic achievement:
    • first year students must have completed year 12 in the previous year with a minimum ATAR of 90, or
    • second to fourth year students must a Grade Point Average (GPA) to date of 3.0 or higher
  • be able to demonstrate financial and/or educational disadvantage such as:
    • receiving a Government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
    • having a long term medical condition or disability which impacts your study
    • experiencing difficult family circumstances
    • have/will be relocating from interstate or rural/regional Victoria to study at RMIT
    • were born overseas, are from a non-English speaking background and recently migrated to Australia
    • are a current or former refugee
    • completed your secondary education at a School Network Access Program school
  • not have completed the same level of program or higher, e.g. if you plan to study a Bachelor of Architectural Design, you should not have previously completed another Bachelor degree.

The Emeritus Professor David Beanland AO Scholarship was established by RMIT and Emeritus Professor Beanland in 2014.

The Scholarship aims to provide support and encouragement to Engineering students at RMIT.

Emeritus Professor David Beanland AO was Vice-Chancellor of RMIT from 1992 to 2000, and Director of RMIT Vietnam from 2000 to 2004. He played a significant role in bringing RMIT to Vietnam, among other extensive achievements, and became an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2001 for service to education.

There are a limited number of Emeritus Professor David Beanland AO Scholarships and not all eligible applicants will be able to receive one.
