PhD Scholarship in Nutritional Genomics and The Mediterranean Diet
This project is designed to determine if specific genetic sub-groups associated with metabolic disease risk benefit from a Mediterranean diet.
Value and duration
A scholarship to support the candidate to complete this project is available ($30,000 per annum full time + laptop).
Time commitment = Full-time, 3 years.
After completion of Confirmation of Candidature successful applicants are eligible to apply for HDR Travels grants up to $2,000 for domestic and international travel related to the project.
This is a part of a larger project that has received funding in the amount of $129,287.
Number of scholarships available
- You must be an Australian citizens or permanent resident.
- You must have a H1 Honours, or have completed a Masters of Research degree or a Masters of Dietetics degree (with a 25% research component).
Desirable: Applicants should have strong interpersonal skills, show attention to detail and a passion for human research in the field of nutrition. A background in analytical biochemistry is also desirable.

This PhD will allow the candidate to develop skills and attributes in: working in a team, leadership, project management, communication (written and oral), research design, participant recruitment, quantitative data collection and analyses, cost analyses, as well as applied clinical and advanced experimental laboratory techniques.
These skills will be translatable to a number of different settings providing opportunities for employment in research, academia, and nutrition-related sectors.
