Indian journalist gains RMIT insights
Professor Gill Palmer and Anahita Mukherji.
Anahita Mukherji, Principal Correspondent with The Times of India, visited RMIT University as part of an Australia India Council Young Media Fellowship.
Ms Mukherji writes on education and is using her time in Australia to gain a greater understanding of the Australian education system.
She met Professor Gill Palmer, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Business), who described how group learning was central to RMIT’s learning and teaching methodology - to the point that it was being integrated into the design of new buildings.
Professor Palmer also explained the relationship between Australian universities and the Federal Government in relation to funding and curriculum.
Ms Mukherji was impressed with RMIT’s emphasis on student mobility and the University’s two campuses in Vietnam.
The journalist also met Professor Suresh Bhargava, Dean of the School of Applied Sciences, who described how RMIT was establishing a collaborative research centre with the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Hyderabad.
