Course Description

 

The topics covered are: Obstetrics;  Neonatal and child health;  Youth health;. The ageing.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

1. Upon completion of this unit, each student shall be expected to be able to describe and discuss:2. Clinical considerations of pregnancy, child-birth, puerperium, lactation, gynaecological disorders and the care of the gravida.3. 2. The growth, development and ageing processes of the human body, the appropriate history taking processes for various stages of the lifecycle, and the age dependant response of the patient to intervention.4. 3. The age related range of clinical conditions encountered in the patient within chiropractic and osteopathic practice.5. 4. An understanding and appreciation of the pregnant, paediatric, adolescent and elderly patient in society and clinical practice 6. 5. A holistic approach to the care of the pregnant, young and ageing patient with emphasis on clinically relevant aspects of the lifecycle stages.
