Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
You should have satisfactorily completed the pre requisite coursea, MANU1081 Fabric Technology and MANU1079 Yarn Technology, before you commence this course.
Course Description
You will attain the skills and knowledge in woven fabric terminology, fabric analysis, with an emphasis on determining yarn linear density, fabric weave and notation woven fabric specifications. You will also explore cover warp and weft sett, weave structures, drafts and lifting plans; calculations required to determine the amount of yarn for production of a specified length of woven fabric .You will also be given an opportunity to work on the Scot Weave CAD/CAM System of weave design.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
1. Apply sustainable practices related to fashion and textiles issues.
2. Conceptualise, integrate and organise information in order to resolve complex issues related to fashion and textiles product development.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Identify and analyse different categories of production methods for weaving.
2. Analyse and evaluate a range of common woven fabrics.
3. Construct and present storyboards depicting mood and inspiration trends applicable to woven products.
4. Design and develop a range of woven fabrics.

You will participate in a combination of classroom activities, including lectures, tutorials and practical weaving laboratory production.
