Course Description

The course covers the following;
Preparation methods to ensure fabrics are suitable for printing.
Preparation of printing screens.
Printing processes including rotary screen, flat screen, heat transfer and digital inkjet printing.
Print paste formulations for both dyestuff and pigment printing.
Selection of dyes and fastness requirements for different fibres and end uses.
Fixation methods - including steaming, heat fixation, and methods specific to certain dye classes.
Evaluation of printed fabrics.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

At the completion of the course students should be able to select a suitable dye or pigment
prepare a printing recipe and produce a sample print and evaluate its performance against industry standards.
