Course Description
To provide logistics specialists with an understanding of business marketing principles and practice. This is achieved through an analysis of the marketing function roles, the strategies used to maintain and develop a customer base for industrial products and services and the impact of marketing on the purchasing function within the buying organisation.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
Overview of Learning Activities
Learning will occur through use of the course Learning Guide as an indicator of learning direction, including online library readings, web sites and chapters from the subject textbook. The learning is in conjunction with the course workshop, where the lecturer will guide application of the learning to organisational situations. Participants will apply the learning in study of situations within their own organisation.
Full Time students will undertake subject research in place of studying situations within organisations.
At the completion of the course, students will complete the evaluation form to assist program development.
Overview of Learning Resources
All learning material, including course learning guide, prescribed textbook and readings are supplied within the course fee.
Overview of Assessment
Assignment 1. 15%. A case study or question to evaluate the participant's understanding of applying the course material to a situation. Approximately 2,000 words. Submission week 5 or 6.
Assignment 2. 35% . A case study that addresses various aspects of the course topics. Submission week 9 or 10
Assignment 3. 50%. A study within the participant's organisation, applying an understanding of the course content to a situation. Approximately 4,000 words. Assignment written as a report to management. Submission week 13 or 14.
