Course Description
The course focuses on the production of moving digital images using digital hardware and software. You will engage in commercially orientated projects to develop conceptual, creative, design and communication skills.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
The objective of the course is to instill in you a high degree of visual literacy, technical competence and developed aesthetic sensibilities to produce moving images communicating an idea or concept within a defined time frame. The course will promote an understanding of vocational business practices and global cultural, social and industry visual contexts. You will be expected to become fully conversant with digital video hardware and editing software in order to develop a strong conceptual initiative.
The aim of the tutorials is to:
* Develop conceptual, technical, creative and communication skills
* Develop the skills required to communicate via the moving image
* Become aware of the communicative potential of digital video.
Overview of Learning Activities
Five practical assignments, by pre-determined dates, before commencing a major project and will be expected to engage in personal research and assignment work during your ‘Non Contact Hours’.
Course content and film library is available on the server ‘COSC 2378’.
Classes, tutorials & workshops present the practices and issues involved in the moving image as a medium, visualisation, production, editing, storyboarding & the presentation of a 30 second movie.
Film viewing, analysis and discussion form part of the learning activities
Although numbered some tutorials go over more than 1 week.
