Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
Completion of three years undergraduate course work. Students will normally have completed or be concurrently enrolled in HUSO 1221 Advanced Political and Social Theory.
Course Description
This course will be chosen from offerings made available on a year-to-year basis according to the current research interests and expertise of teaching and research staff in the School. This course may also be chosen from Masters by coursework courses and other Honours courses in the university, subject to the approval of the School’s Honours Program Coordinator and the relevant course coordinator. Students will remain enrolled in HUSO1224 while engaging in the course content of their choice.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
At the completion of this course you will be able to assess the viability and usefulness of different investigative research methods in relation to the subject matter of the elective;
be able to appraise the value and salience of different theoretical formulations of problems and explanation in relation to the subject matter of the elective, and be able to suggest and develop in a preliminary way new directions of research connected with the subject matter of the elective.
