Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

This course is an elective offered in the Master in Midiwfery for which a Graduate Diploma in Midiwfery is a requirement.


Course Description

This course introduces midwives to a variety of therapuetic approaches to health and healingh. Concepts and principles of specifc complementary health modalities and therapies, which can be incorporated into midwifery practice, will be examined at an introductory level.

  • critique the therapies amd modelaities which are addressed within this course

  • examine critically current recommendations governing the teaching and practice of complementary therapies
  • debate the education and preparation of midwives in the use of complementary therapies.
