Course Description
This course gives the students the opportunity to explore the social and cultural aspects of birth in the various communities within indigenous and multicultural Australia, and from a global perspective. It discusses birth in the light of traditional practices and the adaptation of these practices within Australian health care system. The course challenges the students to explore the resultant impact of cultural practices on midiwfery practice.

There is a range of learning requirements for this course that require different learning activities. This will be organised on an indivdual basis depending on the students needs.

This will be dependent on the learning contract drawn up between the student and lecturer but will include a range of assessments tasks such as presentation and essays.
