Course Description
• Provide candidates with a developed understanding of how to write a doctoral level literature review.
• Provide candidates with an overview of the issues associated with thesis writing and completion at doctoral level.
• Prepare candidates to submit an article to a refereed research journal.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
• Understand and take account of the obstacles to successful writing of a journal article and of a doctoral thesis.
• Understand the research and writing processes employed by successful alumni.
• Enhance the effectiveness of their contributions to practice through their research.
• Use analytical learning approaches that enable them to constructively and critically review and improve their own literature reviews
• Articulate the central issues that have to be addressed in writing a doctoral level thesis.

The course will be taught using workshops and seminars. Participants will be required to make presentations as part of the program

Overview of Assessment
for Year Two candidates:
Presentation of a critical review of the literature relevant to your research question. The candidate is required to submit a copy of the PowerPoint slides used in the presentation, and a copy of the literature review itself.
Candidates in Year Three
For candidates in Year Three: an account of the ways in which your attendance at the seminars has improved/advanced your thinking and writing and progress in regard either to a journal article or your thesis.
