Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

No formal pre-requisites but it is strongly recommended that students have first undertaken Statutory Planning and Environment, or have some prior knowledge of statutory planning in Victoria.


Course Description

This course aims to develop skills in preparing strategic plans over a range of different areas. It will emphasise the development of a plan through meaningful community and stakeholder consultation and ensuring the appropriate means for its implementation through the statutory planning system. This course will be taught in an intensive mode and will draw upon the expertise of leading practitioners.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Students will develop skills in strategic plan preparation, evaluation and implementation across a variety of fields.


Students will work on projects to gain experience in analysing sites and developing plans, undertaking community consultation and apply strategic thinking to decision making situations.


Overview of Learning Activities

The course will have four two hour workshops and a two day intensive.

There is no set text but a variety of reading materials and links to useful resources will be placed on the Blackboard site for the course.


Overview of Assessment

Assessment will total not more than 5,000 words over at least two assignments.
