Students must be selected for the Honours Program and they must have completed all other class requirements.


Course Description

The object of the Honours thesis is to further the professional and academic development of the candidate. With the aid of your supervisor, you are expected have an improved capacity to identify specific research problems and to provide potential solutions. The thesis component, along with other aspects of the Honours program, will provide candidates with the opportunity to develop their research and analytical skills, as well as their written and oral presentation skills. Upon completion, candidates should have enhanced capabilities, knowledge and diversity of experience.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

To produce an Honours level research thesis under the supervision of a staff member.



Overview of Learning Activities

  • Prepare a thesis proposal
  • Make a presentation to students and members of staff
  • Produce a thesis of approximately  50 to 80 pages
  • An oral defence of the thesis


Overview of Learning Resources

These will be thesis specific and will be decided in consultation with each supervisor.   Your grade may be modified based on the oral defence.


Overview of Assessment

The final thesis will be marked by a minimum of two examiners appointed by your supervisor in consultation with the course co-ordinator.
