Course Description
The course introduces the student to the principles, tools and techniques of project management relevant to biotechnology research and product development and the achievement of organisational objectives.
Students will learn the issues relevant to managing
- R & D and product lifecycles and portfolios
- product development and registration
- collaborative, multidisciplinary and multinational projects
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
Students will develop capabilities for planning, executing, controlling and evaluating projects, risk management and managing project lifecycles, resources, schedules and budgets.
Students will understand the major principles and practices of project management applied to product contexts in the biotechnology industry.
Overview of Learning Activities
The course will use lecture, seminar and case study-based learning modes.
Overview of Learning Resources
Students will be referred to a variety of information sources such as organisation web sites, government publications, agency and organisation published information, journal articles and text books.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment will be by individual or group project work. Project topics will be self-directed or case-study based and relevant to employment or current issues and problems in the course context.
