Course Description

<font face="Times" size="2">This sequence concentrates on the development on the development of an understanding of the context in which a Communication Designer works. Students will be presented with insights into the three forms of Communication Theory: myth, rhetoric and semiotics. They will then be required to use these concepts to conduct a product analysis, to give meaning to the production of a design journal and to explore the role of the structural components in Communication Design including space, type, and colour and presentation media.</font>

        </font><font face="Times" size="2">Students are required to maintain an attendance record of 80% to ensure they meet the participation requirements: in briefings, critiques, discussion, class participation and presentations.</font>


          <font face="Times" size="2">They will learn the fundamentals of developing analytical questions through analysis at an individual level and participation at group level in Critiques. Discussions both formal and informal take place providing the opportunity for students to develop their knowledge through the practical application of the conventions and the digital programs.</font>

          Overview of Assessment

          <font face="Times" size="2">Assessment is based on progressive assessment of assigned briefs,  
          each brief must demonstrate the knowledge the student, has acquired through the planned learning experience. Students will receive feedback through either a feedback sheet or through participation  
          in group critiques or reviews during a brief. </font>

            <font face="Times" size="2">You will be assessed on your performance both in class and out of  
            class time. This includes participation in group work, discussions and presentations, as well as how well you execute final form within set briefs. </font><font face="Arial" size="2">
