This course is for Fine Art Students from BP201 only.
VART 1906 Drawing Studio 1A3 Observational Drawing or equivalent.
Course Description
This course provides a basis for students to initiate drawn imagery from perceptual experience. A significant component of the course presents modes and methods of visually describing and comprehending form and space, objects and their context, still life and landscape. Students will be required to self initiate thematic work. The class will include a schedule of individual and group tutorials, special projects, gallery and studio visits.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
By the conclusion of this course students should be confident to initiate and sustain drawings from visual observation of reality. Additionally students should be able to develop thematic aspects of their work and develop a language for connecting perceptual experience to conceptual ideas.
Overview of Learning Activities
Most classes will be studio based face to face practical learning with a lecturer. A schedule of individual and group tutorials is critical to the program. Students are required to consolidate a folio of drawings for assessment. An engagement with exhibition viewing is expected of students and is occasionally scheduled into the program.
Overview of Learning Resources
Facilities for practical learning are provided in the studio but students should provide their own materials.
Overview of Assessment
Students must consolidate and submit a folio of drawings for assessment by a panel of drawing staff that includes the class teacher and the drawing coordinator. Regular attendance is compulsory.
