Course Description

This course develops fundamental techniques in radio production for fm and online delivery. It involves students in program-making, through the planning, production and presentation of Room With A View on 3RRRfm, a weekly live to air magazine program produced by RMIT Radio students. The course extends skills in interviewing and features production.

Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

In completing the course the students should:

1. be able to produce audio pieces for multiple distribution platforms
2. be able to plan and produce material toward the presentation of a magazine program for Fm radio 
3. understand issues related to interviewing in radio production

At the conclusion of this course you will be able to:
Initiate, produce and evaluate media projects.
Identify, analyse and solve problems relevant to media practice.
Work collaboratively within teams.
Reflect upon, direct and evaluate your own learning.

Overview of Learning Activities

Topic areas:
Live and studio interviews, elements of magazine programs, planning and presentation, music programming; working to a brief; online radio.

Teaching and learning:
Workshops will introduce key concepts, analytical tools, and practical advice. Tutorials will provide hands-on instruction and practice.

Panel training will be provided at RMIT studios and 3RRR.

RWAV is presented live to air from the RRR studios

Overview of Learning Resources

You will make use of the radio production facilities of the school. In addition, on-air panel training and live to air broadcasting will be conducted at the studios of 3RRRfm. You will also use the online content management system ROAR in the processes of production and distribution.
