Course Description

This course guide outline applies to Textile Design Part 3A and Textile Design Part 3B.
You will specialise in either Surface Pattern: Printed textile design or Constructed Textiles: Knitted and Woven textile design and you will extend knowledge and skills gained from Textile Design 3A.
This is the textile design course of the final year, where through a series of major folio projects, which will demonstrate your creative design and technical competency to potential industry employers or other related organisations. It builds upon earlier design based courses and requires you to research, apply and demonstrate advanced creative and technical skills and capabilities in textile design.
Through a folio of design projects that range from experimental, industry and award based; you will demonstrate the ability to research and resource information, formulate concepts, understand and apply the technical and aesthetic processes associated with printed, woven or knitted textile design.
Some aspects of project work will involve individual and team based collaboration with internal and external groups.

Overview of Learning Activities

Classes are taught at the Brunswick campus and consist of lectures, demonstrations and tutorials followed by individual face to face and group tutorials with students. There is access to web based forecast information, library resources, computer labs colour printers, photocopiers, studios and workshops for completing project outcomes.
