Course Description

This course is an advanced unit in remote sensing and photogrammetry and covers a range of advanced imaging technologies and applications.
It includes a thorough coverage of image analysis techniques and a study of the following specialist topic areas:

Hyperspectral remote sensing
LiDAR
Image texture
Multi-angle observations
Feature extraction
Close range photogrammetry


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

This course will provide students with a sound understanding of advanced imaging technologies and their application to problems in measurement and monitoring.



On completion of this course, student will understand the capabilities and limitations of close-range photogrammetry and be able to describe the main principles and practices used. They will have a sound understanding of several methods of feature extraction and their application to large and small scale imagery.

Students will develop skills in image analysis that can be applied in a range of remote sensing environments.
