The course TCHE 2186 Studying and providing for children birth to three years is the first professional practice course and must be successfully completed before undertaking Researching Learning which links with Professional Practice 2
Course Description
This course illuminates a range of contexts for new learning. It supports students to examine the role of reflective practice and action research in their professional life for bringing about change and improvement to their professional practice. The course contains a 20 day professional practice component working with children between three and five years old

Overview of Learning Activities
The course will provide opportunities to discuss and critically reflect on course readings and teaching experiences. A Problem-based learning approach is used as well as the action research cycle of learning. Students will work collaboratively with teachers, parents and children in the early childhood setting

There is a book of readings to accompany the course as well as references, journals and internet sites to be accessed

Students are expected to write an action research report which reflects an understanding of the context for learning related to their professional practice setting as well as a clear knowledge of reflective practice and how it can be used to change and improve practice
