To be eligible for this program, students must have successfully completed at least one semester of study, or four courses at RMIT, whichever is greater. You must also have the requisite free elective space, and not be ‘At Risk’ in your program.

The registration process differs slightly for students currently enrolled in a Melbourne program and for Vietnam program students enrolling in the Melbourne program course, Asian Management Issues:

Course Description

This course provides you an opportunity to comprehend and apply key areas of contemporary international business theory, with a specific focus on cross-cultural management. It also provides an excellent platform for studying international business practices, as well as the economics, business and management challenges faced in Asia-Pacific countries. Engaging in cross-cultural teams alongside international industry partners, you will work on providing innovative and sustainable solutions to real-world business challenges.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

CLO 1:  Critically analyse the cultural challenges in the application of international business practices and theories across local, national and global business environments.

CLO 2:  Reflect on your own attitudes, values, beliefs and biases to explain the required adjustments to general and business settings in international economies.

CLO 3: Evaluate and explain international business practices and the associated challenges of economics, business and management issues in Asia-Pacific countries.

CLO 4: Create and participate in cross-cultural teams to design comprehensive, innovative and sustainable solutions to business challenges.


 


Overview of Learning Activities

This course offers you an opportunity for both individual and team-based exploration and evaluation of diverse aspects within cross-cultural or cross-border business. Areas of focus span human resources, leadership, marketing, corporate governance, strategy, innovation, technology, or merger/acquisition opportunities. You will conduct analyses of practical business problems and provide a series of recommendations. The Learning Activities include:

 

  • Reporting on an analysis of the destination country in context of Asia, incorporating both cultural and business dimensions.
  • Active participation in learning activities in the Asian location.
  • Engaging in workshop and/or online discussions.

You may access online learning tools and content for this course from the student portal, myRMIT, Canvas, or, if you are an RMIT Vietnam student, through the teaching platform available in Vietnam.
