Course Description

This course extends the experience from Business Design Project 1. In this course you will create a comprehensive project brief to address a business issue identified in Marketing Business Project Design 1. During this course, exercises on design thinking, critical thinking and argumentation theory will provide you with the knowledge and skills to identify and argue for an innovative solution to a business problem or opportunity identified previously.

This course provides you with a capstone experience, which will give you the opportunity to integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt in your program.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

 

CLO1: do research to inform and create a comprehensive marketing project brief/solution to address a business issue

CLO2: apply design thinking to a business issue(s) that enables you to provide an argument justifying your marketing project brief/solution

CLO3: critically evaluate your proposed marketing solution/innovation and rebut possible counterarguments/limitations

CLO4: express ideas, concepts, solutions and the arguments justifying these logically and coherently to convince a marketing audience of adopting your marketing solution/innovation.

 


Overview of Learning Activities

Learning activities in this course are focused on the preparation of the project brief/solution and may include the following:

  • Identification of a basic human need to fulfil through your solution
  • Exploring and developing a creative and innovative solution to fulfil this basis 
  • Concretising your solution using critical thinking
  • Convincing others of your solution using argumentation theory
  • Preparing a written project report including an evaluation of the project outcomes against the project brief.
