This course is an introduction to product development. You will identify and analyse various stages of range development from concept to final product. In this course you will strengthen your ability to work collaboratively with other professionals internally or externally and resolve work related issues. You will also develop communication techniques and skills to present design concepts.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
a) Lead and manage own work and other team members or individuals within a fashion and textiles enterprise.
b) Apply logical and critical thinking in resolving a range of management issues in a fashion and textiles context.
c) Identify, research, analyse and manage emerging global issues and trends in the fashion and textiles industry.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
a) Identify and analyse the product development process.
b) Evaluate and apply the product development process to the development of a commercially viable range.
c) Investigate, design and create concepts for a commercially viable range.
d) Design and develop product plans for a commercially viable range.
e) Design and generate final products for a commercially viable range.
f) Communicate a commercially viable range to a variety of stakeholders in the fashion and textiles industry.
Overview of Learning Activities
You will research, collect and analyse data on trends to develop a board of the mood and a theme. You will translate this concept into product, by developing a commercially viable range.
You will work in groups to brainstorm recommendations to improve the company’s marketing performance.
