You should have satisfactorily completed the prerequisite course, IT Fashion Illustration and Information Systems, before you commence this course.

Co-requisites
You should undertake Merchandising Planning at the same time as this course as it contains areas of knowledge and skills which are implemented together in practice. These are co requisite courses.
 

Course Description

Advanced information technology skills in illustration and information systems are required to deal with the increasingly complex demands of the contemporary global fashion market.

In this course you will further develop the skills and knowledge acquired in the introductory course: IT Fashion Illustration and Information Systems. This course will focus on developing the skills and knowledge to use computers to design fashion garments and produce simple visual illustrations for product presentations and exhibition displays. You will also apply business software to perform tasks for merchandising planning and other business purposes. The knowledge and skills you gain from this course will enable you to develop mood boards, virtual merchandising and presentations. In addition, you will apply these specific fashion related skills to research, analyse and communicate trends and client needs for fashion products.
 

Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

In this course you will develop the following program capabilities:

a) Apply analytical decision making techniques in a fashion and textiles environment.

b) Identify, research, analyse and manage emerging global issues and trends in the fashion and textiles industry.

c) Research, critically analyse and evaluate theoretical knowledge for fashion and textiles product development and marketing strategies to best match an organisations capabilities.
 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

a) Select and apply industry standard software to create technically accurate fashion illustrations and images used in presentations.

b) Create technically accurate drawings in a timely manner using time saving techniques.

c) Develop and generate colour swatches to meet design requirements.

d) Design, develop and produce digitally manipulated bitmap images for mood board presentations to industry stakeholders in diverse contexts.

e) Apply business software to perform tasks for merchandising planning and other business purposes.

f) Apply specific fashion related skills to research, analyse and communicate trends and client needs for fashion products.
 

Overview of Learning Activities

You will participate in a combination of classroom activities, including workshops with practical use of computer software to create technical fashion illustrations, designs and images.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program capabilities.
