Course Description

In this course you will engage with issues related to international professional practice for digital media content design. You will explore the structure and workflows employed by digital media developers and design organisations. This includes ways to assemble and manage project teams, organise resources, work with clients, and assess risk and creative possibilities within design briefs. This course will assist you in the preparation of a portfolio with digital media strategies, for promoting your services in your chosen area of specialisation.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Upon the successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Critically analyse and evaluate the effectiveness and scalability of different structures and workflows used in the global digital media industries.
  • Develop appropriate documentation to aid planning and management of collaborative projects, including budgeting, contracts and copyright.
  • Critically discuss ethical issues and possible ways in which to resolve them for professional practice within international contexts.
  • Prepare portfolios to present to prospective clients.
  • Investigate and select methods to promote work through traditional channels, social media and viral marketing.


You will be assessed on your development of the following program learning outcomes in this course:

  • Critically analyse, synthesise and reflect on the role, application and implications of digital media works in both local and international contexts.
  • Communicate using diverse formats and strategies to audiences within and external to your discipline.

You will be engaged in learning that involves a range of face-to-face activities such as workshops, lectures, tutorials, group and class discussion, class activities and individual research.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.

Assessment may include projects, assignments, critiques, reports and presentations, individually and/or in groups.

Assessment will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of your learning. You will be able to develop your work in relation to your own specific areas of interest in your professional practice.
