Course Description
In this course you will develop the background and context of the Honours Research Thesis in consultation with an academic supervisor. You will be directed to key publications relevant to your area of study, identify a gap in the knowledge in the area and specify research questions in order to guide the design of your research project and make a scholarly contribution to the field. Your supervisor will be available for consultation to discuss progress, provide appropriate feedback and assist you in refining a research idea that is appropriate for a short Honours study period.

On the successful completion of this course you will be able to:
- Identify a researchable, significant topic of research in a business discipline area.
- Examine and critique a body of literature in a specific area of study.
- Reflect critically on existing theories and conflicting evidence.
- Define a problematic issue and develop relevant research questions.
- Determine and evaluate the proposed research contribution the study will make.

Your learning in this course will occur in liaison with your supervisor. Though some references may be supplied you are expected to become familiar with library usage, survey the relevant literature independently and develop a critical approach to assessing published literature.
