Course Description
This course guide outlines how you will apply your academic learning in a contemporary workplace situation, integrating work and learning on two levels:
- integration of previous and current learning in courses completed in your program of study to date; and,
- integration of previous and current learning in the workplace as part of the Co-operative Education year.

Every placement is different, however during your work experience in industry placement, it is expected that you will have opportunities to:
- develop business specific technical skills and knowledge as outlined in the learning contract;
- develop a work ethos and learn to take responsibility for meeting your work commitments;
- recognise the role of ethics in business;
- reflect on your beliefs, assumptions, values, perceptions and behaviours to identify your own career and employment prospects ;
- integrate the concepts taught throughout your academic programme with practical situations that you are experiencing at work as appropriate;
- adapt to dynamic work environments by being:
- multi-skilled and technically mobile,
- resilient with transferable skills,
- willing to accept new tasks and responsibilities,
- able to perform under pressure and accept constructive criticism, and
- respectful of diverse approaches and viewpoints; - demonstrate a concern for sustainability issues as appropriate;
- demonstrate effective personal organisational skills in the workplace; and
- develop your communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team as required.
Overview of Learning Activities
To achieve the learning objectives, you are required to participate in various learning activities in the workplace. These may include the following:
- completing workplace related tasks specified in your learning contract or in consultation with your employer;
- use of online materials to assist learning in the workplace and integration of academic learning and work;
- accessing library and industry-based resources to obtain information; and,
- consulting with your academic mentor, and your workplace supervisor.

Overview of Assessment
To achieve a pass in this course you will be required to complete your work placement for the term of the contract (with exceptions for problems raised with your workplace supervisor or academic mentor) and submit the requested documentation.
