Alternatively you may be able to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge before you start this course.
This course will enable you to engage in a project based on an issue relating to your creative context. It is designed as a capstone course that enables you to synthesise, integrate and consolidate your knowledge, connect theory and practice, as well as demonstrate a holistic achievement of program learning outcomes.
You will conduct research in order to realise a substantial body of work in your final collection that is informed by the principles of fashion and design.
You will be encouraged to draw upon your knowledge of digital design and future fashion to create an innovative body of work that reflects contemporary thinking.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following outcomes:
- Problem solve effectively in a fashion and textiles enterprise within the area of industry relevant fashion design, technology and product development.
- Apply logical and critical thinking in resolving a range of management issues in a fashion and textiles context.
- Identify, research, analyse and manage emerging global issues and trends in the fashion and textiles industry.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Undertake research relevant to a fashion collection that incorporates technology.
- Plan and execute a design-led project from conceptualisation to realisation.
- Critically reflect upon your creative output in your professional setting.
- Produce a final collection of garments or design-led products that will represent your aesthetic and brand development.
- Present your collection to peers and industry representatives.
Overview of Learning Activities
The project will require you to link theory with practice as you finalise the conceptualisation of your ideas in relation to your creative aesthetic. In the studio, you will produce toiles (samples) of your ideas that will culminate in a final collection.
Through a combination of tutorials, lectures and and studio workshops, you will develop a series of garments or design-led products that will be documented in a journal.
This course may include lectures from industry guest speakers.

Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment may include:
Task 1: (20%) Presentation of conceptual development for capstone collection.
Task 2: (30%) Toile or sample realisation and reflection.
Task 3: (50%) Production of final garments or fashion products.
Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
