Laura O’Brien, Exchange to Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico

Laura spent semester 2, 2013 on exchange in Mexico City. She says “I loved every minute. Would not change a thing."

“DO IT! And do a Spanish basic course before you leave, you'll thank yourself once you are there.”

RMIT Program: Bachelor of Business (International Business)

Global Program: Exchange

Destination: Mexico City, Mexico

Laura's time in Mexico City was full of yoga, Zumba and dance classes, travels around the country most weekends and continuing with her Bachelor of International Business in small, personal classes. The campus itself Laura describes as “amazing,” with plenty of support for international students and a huge list of extra-curricular activities in which anybody can get involved. She would recommend exchange to anybody, and suggests being willing to say ‘yes’ to anything – she always did, and doesn’t regret a single dollar spent. With the cost of living lower in Mexico, it only took Laura a short while to find a house she was happy with that she shared with other exchange students. She advises “DO IT! And do a Spanish basic course before you leave, you'll thank yourself once you are there." But also – Mexico City is cool most of the year, so bring jeans and a jumper.
