High performance computing

For researchers looking to speed things up

High performance computing

When it comes to intensive research tasks, high performance computing (HPC) facilities are designed to save you valuable processing time.

For researchers with funding grants, there are merit-based options available under the National Computational Merit Allocation Scheme.

This includes access to the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) facility, access to the Victorian Life Sciences Computation Initiative (VLSCI) for Victorian Life Science research, and access to the Multi-modal Australian ScienceS Imaging and Visualisation Environment (MASSIVE) for advanced GPU applications.

Here’s what you get:

  • very fast processors and high speed interconnect
  • access to a range of installed, value-add software applications
  • job request and monitoring features
  • limited online training (self-help materials).

Please note – access to additional specialist software packages are available at cost.

For information on the merit-based options available, visit the IT services for researchers site.
