Andrew Wootton lectures in clinical biochemistry within the Division of Laboratory Medicine.Courses taught include the Bachelor of Applied Science in Laboratory Medicine, the Medical Biotechnology stream of the Multimajor Degree and the Graduate Diploma of Laboratory Medicine.

Teaching responsibilities

Andrew Wootton teaches Clinical Biochemistry in several degree programs including Laboratory Medicine, Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences, Chiropractic and Osteopathy.

Research interests

Current interests centre on Vitamin D.The Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists has provided funding support to establish an Australian Reference Laboratory of measurement of Vitamin D at RMIT.Collaboration with the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science is aimed at elucidating the regulation of 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D metabolism.

Within RMIT, two honours projects have been jointly supervised with A/Prof Marian Dobos.These projects, which have had molecular biochemistry and microbiology focuses, have been successfully completed.
