Global perspective on aerospace

Heidi Lange spent a year living and working in Germany as part of her aerospace engineering degree.

‘The work experience gained in Germany meant that, on my return in my final year of study, I already had the skills to start part-time work at GKN Aerospace. This gave me a fantastic head start, and resulted in full-time employment as a design engineer with GKN Aerospace as soon as I completed my degree. They highly valued my international experience.

‘Aerospace is a highly collaborative industry, where work is shared between multiple companies across different countries. The projects I worked on while at MT Aerospace involved collaboration with France, Italy, England and the Netherlands. Each country has its own way of doing things and its own style, so gaining the international experience gave me a perspective on the whole industry.’
