Change in supervision

Changing supervisor is a significant step and is usually only undertaken when:

  • there is a major change in the research topic;
  • the original supervisor is no longer available;
  • there has been a sudden loss of funding (usually related to the research project);
  • there is a serious conflict or incompatibility within the supervisor/candidate working relationship

A change of supervision arrangements may be initiated by either a supervisor or a candidate at any time.

It is the candidate’s responsibility to submit a Change of Supervisor form (DOC 71 KB) to the School’s Research Contact when a change in supervisory arrangement occurs.
