PhD Scholarship in Smart Road Materials

For a PhD candidate to work on the Smart Materials for Road Engineering project, including self-sensing technologies for road transport and advanced self-healing properties of bituminous material with emphasis on use of recycled materials in roads.

In particular, the PhD candidate will undertake experimental investigation into the rheological, mechanical and chemical behaviour of particular asphalt mixes, considering durability issues and sustainability criteria to assess and help in the development of this new technology.

The candidate will be located in Melbourne.

Value and duration

Up to $31,298 per annum for three years (full time).

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • have an honours or a research masters in experimental and/or analytical work with a civil engineering background
  • have capabilities in mathematical modelling, experimental analysis and report writing
  • meet RMIT University’s entry requirements for the higher degree by research.
