May Chong, Exchange to University of Hong Kong, China

May immersed herself in a different culture in Hong Kong, broadened her mind, and would tell anybody considering going on exchange to go for it.

“Trust yourself and go forward with it. It is indeed an eye opening experience that I treasure dearly now that I'm done with my exchange program.

The growth and self-discovery is something that has opened my thinking and I am sure has changed me for the better. "

RMIT Program: Bachelor of Business

Global Program: Exchange

Destination: University of Hong Kong, China

May tried to explore the area surrounding a different metro stop every day during her semester at City University, trying out the many food options and shopping for clothes. She lived in a dormitory that was close to the university, as well as a mall that became one of her favourite places to hang out with friends.

May was happy with the high standard of teaching and found the staff helpful, but the highlights of her experience were the relationships formed, the amazing cultural experience that is Hong Kong, and “hanging out with an international pool of friends on the lawn, talking about everything and anything.” May suggests to anybody considering exchange “trust yourself and go forward with it. It is indeed an eye opening experience that I treasure dearly now that I'm done with my exchange program.
