Love writing essays?

Showcase your research skills and knowledge in law, politics, history and social justice by entering the Governor-General’s Prize essay competition on its tenth anniversary.

The competition

Supported by Reconciliation Australia, this year’s competition revolves around the recognition of Indigenous Australians. You must choose one of the six available questions and answer it in your essay.

The competition is open to all Australian citizens and permanent residents enrolled in an undergraduate degree for any part of 2013 and 2014.

This year’s judging panel is chaired by the Hon. Justice Susan Kiefel AC, of the High Court of Australia.


A total of $10,000 is available for the winners.


Entries must be submitted before 30 June 2014, 5 pm AEST.
