Pre-requisites and Co-requisites
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to assess client needs in routine matters and provide appropriate information and follow-up on a variety of predictable issues within the spatial information handling framework. It requires the ability to communicate effectively and interpret and act upon available information using discretion and judgement. While dealings with clients will often be direct, follow-up functions will be carried out under supervision, within organisational guidelines.

Students will participate in a variety of teaching methods including: lectures, tutorials,practicals, class discussion,
group/individual work on projects, and interaction with individuals and groups within the Surveying area.
Session1 Day1: Enrollment and Induction, Literacy and Numeracy test, care of survey equipment, level reduction, OHS for task 1, preparation for field day
Session1 Day2: Survey annexe induction, 3dr order levelling theory and practice, level competition & reductions
Session1 Day3: GIS map production, reduction, compilation and presentation of data, use of calculator & survey computations
Session2 Day1: Project survey control network, Levelling revision, Chain surveying theory and exercises, OHS for task 2, preparation for field day
