Course Description

This course describes the skills and knowledge required for workers to comply with infection control policies and procedures. . All procedures have to be carried out in accordance with current infection control guidelines, Australian and New Zealand Standards for maintaining infection control and the policies and procedures of the organisation. This course acknowledges the importance of complying with an effective infection control strategy that ensures the safety of the client, maintain personal protection and prevent the transmission of infections from person to person.

Overview of Assessment

The assessment will involve online activities .
There will be observation in the clinical placement with questioning to address appropriate application of knowledge.

Assessment Tasks

The assessment tasks will include the completion of
1. Online quizzes- Topic 1 and 3 for assessing the understanding of the underpinning knowledge
2. Practical assessment for hand washing
3. Clinical placement observation and compiling to infection control procedures, reporting and suggestions for improvements.
