Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to determine and respond to an individual’s physical personal support needs and to support activities of daily living.

This unit will be delivered in workshops with other units:

Assessment Tasks

 This course CHCCCS011 Meet personal support needs, is assessed in accordance with competency based assessment.  The unit CHCWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care is assessed separately. 

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive written feedback on all assessment (refer to MyRMIT for assessment criteria).  You will receive a full assessment brief on date tbc and it will be available on the Blackboard site accessed via MyRMIT.

 

Assessment Task 1:Quiz and scenario & response. Matching answers, 300 words per scenario

Matching Body system with function, disease with definition, responding to scenarios around personal care and support strategies, aids and requirements using your knowledge, experience and the organisational policy and procedures.

 In-class

 

Assessment Task 2:Short answer questions 50 – 200 words per response

Using the information, discussions and materials from workshops, organisational policy, procedure and practices and your experience respond to the questions about personal care and support to maintain health and well being.

 

Assessment Task 3:Performance evidence: practical skills demonstration, workplace professional discussion and sighting of evidence of your work role and responsibilities as a disability worker meeting clients personal support needs. As part of the required evidence determining competence students must provide evidence of work performance. You will participate in a planned practical skills demonstration in your workplace, clinical classroom or other appropriate setting, and a professional discussion at your workplace to present the assessor with appropriate evidence of your work practice. Agency guidelines for privacy and confidentiality will be followed.
