Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to follow work health and safety (WHS) requirements in the creative industries.

It applies to those who are required to identify their individual WHS responsibilities and implement procedures to work safely in various creative industry work contexts.

1.1 Develop and maintain own knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice and workplace policies and procedures

1.4 Use personal protective equipment and other measures as required to prevent injury or impairment

1.5 Use tools, equipment and materials according to safe work practices

Overview of Assessment

Assessment will look to evidence the ability to:

Complete work tasks according to work health and safety (WHS) legislative and workplace requirements, including:

  • Completing Job Safety report
  • Communicating WHS issues to relevant personnel
  • Participate in consultation about WHS issues
  • Identify and report hazards according to workplace requirements
  • Assess and control risks and document risk control measures according to own level of responsibility
  • Follow procedures for responding to incidents and emergencies.

 

 


Assessment Tasks

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment to a satisfactory standard.

Note - Assessments are all submitted online through relevant Blackboard and Google+ Community locations as indicated

 

Assessment Tasks (ungraded)

1 - ONLINE OH&S QUIZ
You will complete a short online OH&S questionnaire, located online in the Blackboard interface for this unit.

This assessment is submitted / completed in BLACKBOARD
To be completed between classes 1 & 7 (weeks 9 & 15) 


2 - JSA (Job Safety Analysis)
 - You will complete a Job Safety Analysis report, as supplied by lecturer through online support interface. You will identify and list five potential OHS hazards in classes 4-7 (weeks 12 - 15) in the JSA report, and submit through the Google+ online interface.
The report will be accompanied by five photographs, individually documenting the OH&S hazards identified in your JSA report (listed as Assessment 3).

This assessment is submitted to the relevant GOOGLE+ COMMUNITY
To be completed between classes 4 & 7
 (weeks 12 - 15)

3 - PHOTOGRAPHIC JSA EVIDENCE
You will upload five photographs to the relevant Google+ Community interface for the unit, each individually documenting the OH&S hazards identified in your JSA report.
The photographs will correspond to the five hazards listed in your JSA report, each providing evidence.

This assessment is submitted to the relevant GOOGLE+ COMMUNITY
