This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to design and to develop assessment tools used to guide the collection of quality evidence, including their application in summative and recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessment.

Overview of Assessment

The unit TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools is holistically assessed with 3 other units within the TAE40116 qualification namely TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes, TAEASS402 Assess competence and TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation.

Assessment of these 4 units consists of: 

  • Short answer knowledge questions
  • Planning assessment activities and processes 
  • Preparing and planning to assess competence on 5 occasions
  • Planning, designing and developing three (3) assessment tools
  • Participate in validation in 3 assessment tools
