Course Description

In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge to work in a manner that follows Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures, in relation to yourself and others and to respond to potential emergency issues and incidents.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment tasks will require you demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills through practical projects and/or written tasks and includes online activities.
The assessment tasks are:

WHS Online blog project
Workplace safety check worksheet

An assessment charter summarises your responsibilities as an RMIT student as well as those of your teachers.


Assessment Tasks

There are 4 x assessment tasks for this course, and they are as follows:

Task 1: Online WHS research document and comments. Topic: Mind
Task 2: Online WHS research document and comments. Topic: Body
Task 3: Online WHS research document and comments. Topic: Technology
Task 4: Workplace Safety Check worksheet identifying in-home risks and hazards.

All WHS material generated in these tasks will be discussed in a session/s.

All tasks need to be completed and submitted by Week 9.

Due dates for assessment tasks dependent on access to specialist facilities and equipment may change. Please check Canvas regularly as any updates will be communicated by your teacher.

At the completion of the course, all assessments tasks will be assessed for competency only.
This course is assessed as either CA - Competency Achieved or NYC - Not Yet Competent
Final course results will be shown as above, there is no grading applied.
This course will conclude in Week 9, and course results will be determined after that time.

The major learning experience involves scheduled exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that you attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.

Special Consideration Policy, Late Submission & Extensions
All assessment tasks are required to be completed to a satisfactory level.
If you are unable to complete any piece of assessment by the due date, you will need to apply for an extension.

On Time Submission and Impact of Late Submission 
On time submission is an important factor in your assessment. Employability skills are embedded in all courses and these include Planning & Organising and Self-management. For this reason, late work impacts on your competency assessment. 
Submissions that are assessed as Not Satisfactory can be re-submitted once and this is only permitted during the period that the competency is scheduled.
