Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide training to provide the student with fundamental knowledge and practical skills in the use of aircraft tooling and fastening systems. As well as installation and removal of aircraft rivets and close tolerance fasteners.

Elements:

1. Describe and use drills and associated tools used to cut holes in aircraft materials.

10. Maintain threaded components.

2. Select the correct type, length and diameter of rivet for installation.

3. Install and remove aircraft rivets.

4. Demonstrate use and care of reamers.

5. Cold work holes in aircraft structures.

6. Install and remove aircraft close tolerance fasteners.

7. Identify and operate power/machine tools.

8. Remove and install hardware covering a range of fits.

9. Form an internal and external thread by hand cutting.
