Course Description

This course teaches current best practices for creating web pages. Page design is accomplished with a graphics application. Use of such an application and basic graphic design skills are part of the course. Page construction (structure and content) is accomplished using an HTML editor, and all layout and presentation is developed separately using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Emphasis is placed on building to web standards.
Inclusion of media and scripting is also part of the course. While emphasis is given to still images (knowledge of appropriate file types, compression, etc), techniques for including other media are also taught. Use of JavaScript for simple dynamic elements (eg drop-down menus) is also taught.
