Course Description
Enrolled/Division 2 nurses apply contemporary wound management principles to the care of clients with varying types of wounds.

Review Skin Anatomy and relevant components, Infection Control Concepts, transmission based precautions
Identify and describe the concept of Infection, strategies to minimize cross infection during wound assessment and care – Asepsis & Cellulitis

What is a wound?
Factors influencing a wound and wound healing
Lesson 3
Identify and describe the various types of chronic wounds.
Aetiology of chronic wounds
- Ulcers
- Fistulas & Sinuses
- Malignant
- Discharging Wounds.
Various types of treatments
Lesson 4
Identify and described the types of acute wounds, how an acute wounds occurs & when to seek for assistance when not healing
Understand the classification systems of skin tears

60% on EACH assessment must be achieved
<45% student must re- enrol into course
45 – 50% a resit of the assessment will be considered
This course must have competency grade awarded before commencing phase 3 of the program
