Course Description

In this course you will develop the techniques required to research, conceive, capture and produce a substantial photographic project. The focus of the unit involves each student producing their own photojournalistic narrative in a book format. The unit is taught in conjunction with ‘Prepare images for Prepress Processing’ (CUAPHI514), which concentrates on the output skills to process images and produce a print ready PDF for final production of the book in print.

1.1 Evaluate requirements for range of illustrative photo imaging projects

1.2 Research, using variety of sources, contemporary styles and conceptual or aesthetic approaches used in similar illustrative photo imaging projects

1.4 Prepare work, usage estimates and creative fee for range of illustrative photo imaging projects

Assignment 01 – Book Proposal 
Due: Week 3
Graded Assessment
Students are required to source and confirm a subject or topic for a photojournalistic/documentary based project. 
Based on this idea, each student will submit a book proposal and present a 10 min summary on their idea in class (one-on-one appointments). Your proposal will be based on a photojournalistic/ documentary based project and will be presented in an A4 portrait format.
